Taira Schertz - Missouri Baptist University

Assistant Dean of Student Engagement and Director of Residence Life

Taira Schertz brings a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for student engagement and residence life. She holds a degree in Business Management from Missouri Western State College and a minor in gerontology.  Before her tenure at MBU, Taira was a program specialist for a brain injury program at SSM Health, where she honed her skills in supporting individuals through challenging circumstances. 

Joining the MBU family in 2005 as the Residence Director of North Hall, Taira has since taken on the roles of Assistant Dean of Student Engagement and Director of Residence Life. In this capacity, she orchestrates campus-wide events like Homecoming Week, Welcome Weekend, End of Year celebrations and other monthly events ensuring students have memorable experiences while fostering a sense of community. Beyond event planning, Taira plays a pivotal role in overseeing the resident directors of the dorms and investing in the development of student leaders, a role she finds particularly rewarding. Outside of her professional endeavors, she finds joy in cooking, binge-watching new shows with her husband Eric, and exploring St. Louis with her family. 

Taira’s commitment to student success and her vibrant approach to campus life make her an invaluable asset to the MBU community, embodying the spirit of care, dedication, and fun.
