Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs

Missouri Baptist University’s counseling preparation programs have received eight-year accreditation from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

This “gold standard of accreditation” evaluated Missouri Baptist University through a rigorous set of nearly 300 standards and procedures. CACREP-accredited counseling programs evidence commitment to meeting the highest level of standards for counselor preparation in the United States, and to engaging in a discipline-specific peer-review quality assurance process. The accreditation period is from 2021-to 2029.

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

DESE is the administrative arm of the State Board of Education. It is primarily a service agency that works with educators, legislators, government agencies and citizens to maintain a strong public education system.

The university is approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Jefferson City, Mo., for requirements in general education and certification for elementary and secondary teachers; the training of veterans under Public Law 550 and 894, 82nd Congress; and for the training of sons and daughters of deceased veterans under the War Orphan’s Educational Assistance Act.

Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs

Recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is the largest programmatic accreditor in the health sciences field. In collaboration with its Committees on Accreditation, CAAHEP reviews and accredits over 2,000 educational programs in twenty health science occupations. The Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences (CoAES) falls under the auspices of the CAAHEP. The primary role of the CoAES is to establish standards and guidelines for academic programs that facilitate the preparation of students seeking employment in the health, fitness and exercise industry. The secondary role of the CoAES is to establish and implement a process of self-study, review and recommendation for all programs seeking CAAHEP accreditation. Programmatic accreditation through CAAHEP is specifically intended for exercise science or related departments (physical education, kinesiology, etc.) with a professional preparation tract designed for students seeking employment opportunities in the health, fitness and exercise industry. The CAAHEP headquarters is located at 1361 Park Street, Clearwater, FL, 33756.

The Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences

The Missouri Baptist University (MBU) undergraduate exercise science program is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences (CoAES) and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). The exercise science program was first granted accreditation status in the spring of 2008 and was granted reaccreditation status from the spring of 2014 to the spring of 2019.

The Master of Social Work Program at Missouri Baptist University has achieved Accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education’s Commission on Accreditation.
