Q. How is the Mercy Clinic on campus staffed?
A. The Mercy Clinic on the MBU campus is staffed by a Nurse Practitioner under the operation of the Mercy healthcare system. The clinic does not have a receptionist or medical technician on site to handle phone calls or questions. Most questions can be handled by contacting the scheduling center at (314) 304-3838. The staff at the scheduling center can also relay any messages you have to the Nurse Practitioner.
Q. What is a Nurse Practitioner (NP)?
A. A nurse practitioner is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who has received an advanced graduate or doctorate level education and clinical training. They provide a wide range of health care services, including the diagnosis and management of common as well as complex medical conditions. There are currently more than 150,000 NPs nationwide practicing in a variety of settings. Nurse Practitioners are licensed and regulated by the state Board of Nursing. All Nurse Practitioners are board certified in a specialty such as family practice, pediatrics, adult medicine, women’s health or acute care.
Q. How do I schedule an appointment with the nurse practitioner?
A. There are several ways to schedule an appointment:
- Set up a MyMercy account and schedule online. This option is only available to existing Mercy patients. Once you are seen in the clinic you can create a MyMercy account and schedule online. – Here are some FAQs
- Call the scheduling number (314) 304-3838, this will connect you directly to registration and they will assist you with scheduling your appointment.
- Go to the clinic and pick up the ring-down phone located directly to the right of the clinic door, this will connect you directly to registration. Registration will assist you with scheduling your appointment.
- Walk-ins are welcome. If you are a walk in please make sure to contact the scheduling department to obtain the next available appointment on the Nurse Practitioner’s schedule or by using the ring-down phone located outside the clinic.
Q. What is MyMercy?
A. MyMercy is an online service that allows you to connect with your Mercy Clinic care team and your health information…online, anytime. Using your internet enabled device, you can sign in to MyMercy to see your test results, medications and your care team’s summary of your current health concerns and conditions. You can also e-mail your care team, schedule appointments and renew prescriptions online. It’s free. It’s safe. And it’s convenient… available 24 hours a day.
Q. What information is needed when I have an appointment?
A. For all appointments please make sure to have your Photo ID and Insurance Card.
Q. What should I be aware of in terms of patient privacy when visiting the clinic on campus?
A. Information pertaining to patients is protected under HIPPA and solely part of the Mercy Healthcare system. Patient information and/or records are never shared with the university.
Q. What are some other things I should be aware of in terms of Patient Privacy?
A. Please note, if the clinic door is closed, the nurse practitioner is with a patient. When you arrive for your appointment please take a seat and know that you will be waited on shortly. Patients with scheduled appointments will be taken care of in order of their appointment time. It is important that you do not knock on the clinic door, as this interrupts the appointment in session and can cause privacy issues.

Q. What if I have a problem and the clinic is not open?
A. If the Mercy Clinic on campus is closed, call 844-521-2414 to be directed to the most appropriate care.
Q. What if I have a problem or question about billing?
A. For billing issues, please call the number on your statement for the billing department, 314-364-4200 and they should be able to answer your questions.
