Digital and Social Media Specialist - Missouri Baptist University

Missouri Baptist University is seeking a Digital and Social Media Specialist to help grow the University’s social network and increase engagement with the University community. Under the supervision of the Director of University Communications, the person in this role will create content for social media and the web that inspires our audience, strengthens brand recognition and helps tell the MBU story.

Responsibilities
Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Develop and implement creative and effective social media posts and campaigns
  • Strengthen social network engagement on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and TikTok
  • Write compelling and concise copy for social media platforms as well as for the web, with considerations for tone, audience and SEO optimization
  • Develop and maintain a social media calendar
  • Create and curate photos, videos and graphic designs that align with and promote  MBU’s brand
  • Further develop MBU’s social media aesthetic while adhering to the University’s overarching brand guidelines. 
  • Monitor and report on social media progress through analytics
  • Research new media platforms and trends
  • Take photos at University events and edit photos with software such as Photoshop or Lightroom
  • Add and maintain content on the University website

Minimum Requirements
Requirements for this position are:

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or a related field
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong planning skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to quickly grasp the University brand and represent and uphold it to the University community and beyond
  • Intermediate-level competency in photography, photo editing and graphic design (Photoshop, InDesign, Canva)
  • Familiarity with WordPress and website best practices, such as UX, SEO and web copywriting
  • Perform duties consistent with and not contrary to the University’s Statement of Faith, possess a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an active member in a local church
