Course Reserves - Missouri Baptist University

Course Reserves

Course Reserves are course-related materials that your professors have made available through the Learning Center. These items may include books, book chapters, journal articles, DVDs, and lecture notes.

All reserves are located at the Service Desk near the front of the Learning Center. You can also search Course Reserves in the learning center catalog by professor or course name.

You will need to bring a student or photo I.D. to check out library materials.

In order to ensure students in a class may access materials, loan periods will vary depending on the type of item.

You may only check out up to 3 hourly Course Reserves items and 3 overnight/multi-day reserve items at one time. Please return Course Reserves promptly.

How to Place Items on Reserve

Instructors should review the following policies before completing the Course Reserve Request Form (printable pdf) and return to the Service Desk at the Jung-Kellogg Learning Center or email library@mobap.edu.

  • Provide the call number for any item placed on reserve from MBU’s collection.
  • Photocopies and other items provided by the instructor should be noted as Personal Copy.
  • Photocopied chapters and articles should only be used one semester under “fair use.” To use multiple items, you need to have permission from the publisher. Keep copyright permission letters handy in case any questions surface regarding the reserve material.
  • When photocopying from a book no more than 10% of the book is allowed. When photocopying from a journal, only one article is allowed per issue.
  • The instructor must sign the reserve form themselves since permission to use the material was given to them.
  • Videos and sound recordings may be placed on reserve.
  • Materials (other than photocopies) received through MOBIUS or Interlibrary Loan cannot be placed on reserve.

After reviewing the list above, please fill out the Course Reserve Request form.
