Choosing the correct degree plan worksheet: First-time Freshman or Transfer/Readmit
The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is in the process of changing the course requirements for certification. While the new rules for certification requirements have been adopted by the State Board of Education, all Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs) in the state remain under the previous requirements in the compendium while procedures and processes are developed and implemented for EPPs to submit their new program requirements to DESE for approval.

Because all students graduating after SU-17 must meet the new certification requirements, students entering in FA-14 as first-time freshmen will be under the new rules. However, transfer or readmit students entering in FA-14 who are able to finish all certification requirements and graduate by SU-17 may finish under the compendium requirements which are currently still in effect. (Transfer/readmit students who will not be able to finish all certification requirements and graduate by SU-17 will also need to follow the degree plans for first-time freshmen.) Therefore, we have developed two sets of degree plan worksheets for the 2014-2015 catalog: one for first-time freshmen and one for transfer/readmit students who are able to finish all certification requirements and graduate by SU-17. It is critical that you select the correct degree plan worksheet if you are seeking initial teacher certification.
