Worship Heart & Art Seminar to Feature Rev. Kerry Tillmon

MBU is hosting its annual Worship Heart & Art Seminar, “The Beauty of Holiness & the Tapestry of Worship” on Feb. 18-19 for students, faculty, staff and community members.
The purpose of the free event is to equip pastors, worship leaders and all others in the church to use biblical principles to inform worship practice with seminar sessions on worship leadership, theology, preaching and the arts. This year’s keynote preacher for the conference will be Rev. Kerry Tillmon of West Point Missionary Baptist Church in Galveston, Texas.
Tillmon comes with more than 30 years in the ministry and serves as the president of the Baptist Ministers’ Association of Galveston. He is a graduate of Houston Baptist University with a bachelor’s degree in Christianity and a minor in government. Tillmon is currently working toward receiving his master’s degree at Knox Theological Seminary in Florida.
On Thursday, musical missionary group Izibongo will lead various seminar sessions as well as hold a concert in the evening. “IziBongo” refers to “praises intoned in honor of a person,” and the musical praise poetry comes from the Zulu people of South Africa.
