Carole Boch McFadden: Alumni Success Story

MBU alum Carole Boch McFadden (’74) believes “God talks to us all the time, we just don’t always hear him.” Today, McFadden says, we let the noise of modern technology drown out God’s voice.

To combat the noise, McFadden and her husband built Open Gate Retreat Center in 2007 as “a place for peace when the world is noisy.” Passionate about hospitality, the couple welcomes retreatants of all backgrounds, giving them space to listen to God.

On the side, McFadden works as a registered nurse and operates Genesis Coffee Roasters, a small-batch coffee roasting company. Both occupations exemplify her passion for service.

McFadden credits MBU professors with preparing her for the future by encouraging her growth. At the Open Gate Retreat Center, McFadden now encourages others to grow spiritually.

Open Gate Retreat Center now accepts retreatants with open arms– or perhaps an open gate.

A story of shining on.
