Steve Savard Set to Launch 2013-2014 MBU Media Talk Series

KMOV-News 4 Anchor and Rams Announcer Steve Savard will be featured as the first guest for Missouri Baptist University’s second annual Media Talk series on Nov. 12, 1-2 p.m.

The event will take place in the  Recital Hall of MBU’s Pillsbury Chapel and Dale Williams Fine Arts Center.

Savard’s appearance will launch this year’s Media Talk  theme of sports communication. The theme was chosen to raise awareness of the growing field of sports communication and the importance of communication skills in the sports industry.

The Media Talk series, a free communications speaker series,  is coordinated by Amanda Wokurka, a public relations and communications instructor at MBU.

Wokurka started the series to connect successful communications professionals with students, staff and faculty. “It is important know how relevant communications is in the St. Louis area,” said Wokurka. “We want them to know they can be successful, and these people can inspire success.”

Savard has been the voice of the St. Louis Rams since 2000. Before becoming a news anchor this February, Savard was the KMOV Sports Director since 1994. Since joining KMOV, Savard has won six Emmy awards.

Previous guests include Bill McClellan, a columnist for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Mark Abel, executive vice-president of Weber Shandwick.
