Noted author Os Guinness featured MBU Chapel speaker
ST. LOUIS – Christian author and speaker Os Guinness spoke to Missouri Baptist University students, faculty and staff at the University’s weekly Chapel service Thursday, September 22, 2022, in the Pillsbury Chapel. During the lecture, Guinness contended the future of freedom in America is in question, and that such freedom can only be secured by a Biblical worldview.

“We as a country have never been more divided since just before the Civil War,” Guinness said. “The renewal of the west and the renewal of the American Republic depends on the renewal of people of faith.” Guinness is the Great-great-great grandson of Dublin brewer Arthur Guinness and is the son of medical missionaries.
He was educated in England, earning and undergraduate degree from the University of London and his D.Phil in the social sciences from Oriel College, Oxford. Guinness’s Chapel appearance was in partnership with Covenant Theological Seminary, which is hosting Guinness and other scholars September 23-24, as part of the Francis Schaeffer Institute Conference. This year’s conference is celebrating the life and ministry of longtime Covenant professor Jerram Barrs.
Guinness has been a guest scholar at the Wilson Center, a guest scholar and visiting fellow at the Brookings Institution, and senior fellow at the Trinity Forum. He is the author or editor or more than 30 books, including “The Call: Finding and Fulfilling the Central Purpose of Your Life,” “Time for Truth,” “Unspeakable” and “The Global Public Square.” His latest book is “The Great Quest: Invitation to the Examined Life and a Sure Path to Meaning.”
