MBU trustees appoint faculty, approve budget
Missouri Baptist University trustees approved new faculty, promotions and an expansive annual budget at their regularly-scheduled meeting Feb. 27.
The board unanimously approved the appointment of the following faculty candidate:
• Dr. Tonia Crane was named Associate Professor of Education. Crane, who holds a doctor of philosophy from Tennessee Technological University, has worked at Oklahoma Baptist University since 2008 where she has held the rank of Assistant Professor of Special Education.
In addition, the following MBU faculty members received promotions:
• Mrs. Amanda Staggenborg was promoted from instructor to assistant professor of communications.
• Dr. Shelton Smith was promoted from associate professor to professor of education.
• Dr. Keith Beutler was promoted from associate professor to professor of history.
The University’s 2014-2015 operating budget was also approved. The budget represents a 6 percent increase from last year—ensuring that key strategic initiatives will be completed. At the same time, the budget includes a 4.4 percent tuition increase.
Trustees also approved resolutions of appreciation to benefactors Gary and Cheryl Keesling who recently contributed $40, 000 to establish the Timothy Fund endowment. The President’s Club, which is comprised of donors who have given $1,000 or more to MBU in the last year, was also recognized.
