MBU to host team photographer for the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues at upcoming MBU Media Talk series

St. Louis Cardinals Team Photographer Scott Rovak will open the Spring 2020 Media Talk series on Tuesday, March 24 at Missouri Baptist University. The free speaker series will take place in MBU’s Pillsbury Chapel and Dale Williams Fine Arts Center from noon to 1:00 p.m.

Scott Rovak has been shooting photography professionally for 36 years. Rovak has worked professionally with the St. Louis Blues in addition to the St. Louis Cardinals. Additionally, Rovak has covered four Olympics, several Super Bowls and countless World Series games. Rovak’s professional career has also included contributions to ESPN magazine, Getty Images and Sports Illustrated.

“I’m excited to welcome a famous sports photographer as our Media Talk speaker. Scott’s passion, energy and dedication to work is inspirational for our students,” said  Dr. Amanda Staggenborg, founder and coordinator of the Media Talk series, and associate division chair for communications, “ There are so many creative ways to build a career in communications. Scott is a world-class photographer and has covered four Olympics, several Super Bowls, countless World Series games and more.  

The Media Talk series is an event put on by the communications department at the university. Communications students, Hannah Chaney and Alexia Duncan will be interviewing Rovak this spring. “I am looking forward to interviewing Rovak and getting to dig inside of his work that he does for all the sports team here in St. Louis,” said Duncan. 

This is the ninth year of the media talk series at MBU. Media talks have provided students with the opportunity to interview professionals within their field. The talk have inspired communications students and offered a glimpse into the professional world by showcasing leaders in public relations, journalism, broadcast media and strategic communications. 

Each MBU Media Talk speaker is selected to represent various types of communication-related professions in St. Louis.
