MBU to Host Media Talk Featuring Ron Jacober

Award-winning sportscaster, Ron Jacober will launch the 2014-2014 Missouri Baptist University Media Talk Series on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

The conversation will take place in the Recital Hall of MBU’s Pillsbury Chapel and Dale Williams Fine Arts Center from noon to 1 p.m.

The Media Talk series, a free communications speaker series,  is coordinated by Amanda Staggenborg, assistant professor of public relations and communications at MBU.

Two communications students will interview Jacober followed by a question and answer session with the audience.

Jacober is a respected sportscaster with 47 years of experience — the longest career in the market. He host the longest running radio sports show for 27 years, the award-winning “Sports On a Sunday Morning.” His award-winning career, also included serving as Sports Director of KMOX for two decades.

“St. Louis is filled with media professionals willing to share their stories,” said Staggenborg. It’s always inspirational for all students to see the achievements of those who’ve been determined to follow their dream, especially in fields that are so interdisciplinary.  Our communications division offers degree programs that allow students to explore their creativity and communication in the PR, Journalism and the Broadcasting careers.  The Media Talk gives students professional examples of this.”

Previous Media Talk guests include sportscaster Frank Cusumano, Bill McClellan, long-time columnist for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and Mark Abel, executive vice-president of Weber Shandwick.
