MBU hosts Erin Bode & Friends in concert

Missouri Baptist University’s artist-in-residence takes the stage on Sept. 23

St. Louis-based jazz performer and MBU’s artist-in-residence Erin Bode will host an evening of music in the Pillsbury Chapel and Dale Williams Fine Arts Center. She has also been working with students in the University’s commercial voice program, which began in 2014, and performed with MBU’s jazz ensemble for Jazz and Java in thePerk.

Bode launched her newest album, “Here and Now,” in 2016. The album also released in Japan this July.

The evening will begin with a performance by MBU alumna Mary Kate Walton (Bachelor of Music in Music Ministry ’15). She also currently works at MBU as a freshman admissions counselor, and sings with The Journey Collective. Her time at MBU launched her into a professional career of singing a folk-pop style around St. Louis and through online videos.

“I’ve enjoyed getting to know Erin Bode throughout the past few years,” Walton said. “Not only do I respect her as a musician, but I have great respect for her as one of the most genuine and kind people I have ever met. It’s an honor to open for her at this concert.”

The concert will be held Saturday, Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for MBU students and $10 for general admission. To purchase tickets, go here.
