MBU art gallery features local artist Greta Coalier

Webster Groves native Greta Coalier will feature her art in MBU’s art gallery located in the Pillsbury Chapel and Dale Williams Center from Feb. 2 to March 30.
“My work is directly inspired by a history and love of textiles, coupled with a rich imagery of childhood fascinations and experiences,” said Coalier. “I am drawn to both the poetic language, comfort and femininity of flowers, and the more rigid lines of manmade machines. All of these images have a voice when I paint.”
Coalier attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she focused on textiles, art history and painting. Her work is frequently featured in local exhibitions such as the SOHA Studio and Gallery in South St. Louis in addition to the Old Orchard Gallery in Webster Groves.
Her works of art displayed in the gallery are presented in restored, decorative frames and are available for purchase. Coalier’s works are also sold as notecards, magnets and more at gretacoalier.com.
A gallery reception with Coalier will be held on Friday, Feb. 16 from 6 to 10 p.m. in the art gallery. Light refreshments will be served.
