Dr. Easter appointed director of Christian studies at MBU
Dr. Matthew Easter, assistant professor of bible at Missouri Baptist University, assumed the role of director of Christian studies. Easter has worked as an assistant professor at MBU since fall of 2015.
“Dr. Easter is a respected New Testament scholar and student favorite, who also works on the cutting edge of church planting and ministry practice,” said Dr. Andy Chambers, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs . “Easter will lead our ministry and biblical studies programs to the next level of innovation and excellence as a resource for ministry training in the St. Louis region and beyond. I am excited about the future of Christian studies at MBU.”
In addition, he received a M.Div. with a Certificate of Baptist Studies from Duke University Divinity School and a B.A. in Biblical Studies and Accounting from Southwest Baptist University
Easter’s dissertation, “Faith and the Faithfulness of Jesus in Hebrews “ was published by Cambridge University Press in 2014. He currently serves as the regional coordinator for the central states region of Society of Biblical Literature.
Easter is passionate about Christian higher education and sees it as an opportunity to play a role in what the Lord is doing. Easter’s vision is to equip, encourage and advise students in their endeavors for the Gospel.
In his new role, Easter will be working to develop strategic partnerships with local church. Easter says, “I want to work out a deeper cooperation with the local churches. We are co-laborers for the Gospel and I want them to know that we are in this together. We are on the same team.”
