Title:   Digital Content Specialist

Area:  Enrollment, Marketing and University Communications;

Basic Function

Reporting to the Director of University Communications, the digital content specialist will collaborate with key members of University Communications to develop and execute strategic digital content and maintenance.


This individual will create meaningful and strategic and social content, creating a unified voice for all MBU web platforms that drives forward the University’s brand position. Specifically, the digital content specialist is responsible for the collection, writing, editing, posting, and maintenance of all types of online content, and will be the primary point of contact for the University’s website content. The preferred candidates will have an in-depth knowledge of the current and future social media universe, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and emerging platforms. The digital content specialist will also contribute writing to University projects. The position will have a keen understanding of digital analytics, and how such data can drive decision-making.


  • He/she is directly accountable to the Director of University Communications for the proper interpretation and fulfillment of his/her function, general responsibilities and related authority, and relationships.
  • It is essential that the digital content specialist maintain open relationships with various University offices and personnel. These offices include, but are not limited to: Adult/Online, Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate Admissions and department heads and professors.

Performance Measurement Criteria

An annual performance review is to be conducted by the Director of University Communications. This review will include an assessment of the degree to which annual goals have been accomplished, an analysis of the Enrollment Marketing Specialist’s strengths and weaknesses based on a review of the job description and recent performance, and proposed personal and professional development.

Minimum Requirements


Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, marketing, journalism or equivalent degree.


1+ years of communications responsibilities in organizational setting.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with social media, writing and content management systems. He or she will be an outstanding communicator both verbally and in writing and familiar with AP style. The candidate will have knowledge of best practices in digital content creation, deployment and management, including SEO/SEM tactics. Familiarity with inbound marketing, HTML and Adobe Creative Suite is important. Most importantly, the candidate must act as a self-starter, work well on a team and strive for service excellence in all interactions.
