The Department of Student Development is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director of Residence Life. This is a full-time, 12-month live-in position which requires someone who is able to maintain flexibility. The position operates on an on-call rotational schedule which includes evenings, weekend and holidays.
The Assistant Director promotes the University’s strategic Plan and mission of the Division of Student Development by building a sense of community, promoting a vibrant and inclusive campus, and creating co-curricular opportunities that facilitate students learning about wellness, social change and leadership through community engagement and self-reflection for residential students. The Assistant Director of Residence Life manages residential facilities, Graduate Assistants, and programming for a residential population residing in traditional halls, special interest housing, learning communities, and graduate student housing. This is a live-in position. Occupancy of the University provided apartment is for the duration of the appointment to the position.
The position supports the Assistant Dean of Student Engagement/Director of Residence Life’s vision, mission and goals for a comprehensive student activities program. As a part of creating a total educational experience for students, the position will work collaboratively with individuals and departments throughout the campus community.
This position will provide leadership, direction, budget management, and supervision to develop a positive living and learning environment that is focused on academic achievement, student development, and community.
The ideal candidate will be a professing and committed Christian with an understanding and commitment to uphold the Southern Baptist Faith and Message within the context of an intentionally Christian liberal arts university. Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree, three to five years of experience in residence life and supervisory experience.
