Master of Arts in Counseling (MAC)

In place of the Master of Arts in Counseling (MAC), two new degrees are now offered: Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MA-CMHC) & Master of Arts in School Counseling (MA-SC).

The MAC will no longer be available to new students after Summer 2017. Previous MAC courses will still be offered to students who have entered the program prior to Fall 2017 until 2023 to honor the Graduate Bulletin agreement with students who entered prior to Fall 2017.

The Master of Arts in Counseling (MAC) degree meets all of the requirements for Missouri Certification as an Elementary and Secondary School Guidance Counselor. The program also has a unique feature that meets all of the academic requirements to obtain a Professional Counselor Licensure in Missouri. If a student does not desire School Counselor Certification, he/she may elect to pursue the academic requirements for professional counselor licensure only. For many, certification as a psychological examiner is a logical extension of the counseling degree program. Missouri Baptist University offers this program for individuals who have a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology or Education and who also possess classroom teaching, special education, or school counselor certification.

  • Elementary Counseling, K-8: For Certification and Licensure 
  • Secondary Counseling, 7-12: For Certification and Licensure 
  • Elementary and Secondary Counseling, K-8/7-12 Certification and Licensure
  • Psychological Examiner Certification
