MBU, Pujols Family Foundation compete in 6th annual Albert’s All-Star Basketball Game

The MBU Spartans faced off against some of their favorite opponents on Sunday, Jan. 29 for the 6th Annual Pujols Family Foundation’s Albert’s All-Star Basketball Game in the Carl and Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex.

The Pujols Family Foundation promotes awareness, provides hope and meets tangible needs for children and families who live with Down syndrome. Albert Pujols and his All-Star team is comprised of youth from the Foundation ranging in age from 10-20. Pujols was joined by professional athletes such as former St. Louis Rams players Andy McCollum and T.J. Moe; NBA star and Saint Louis University alumnus Larry Hughes; NCAA Slam Dunk Champ and former Harlem Globetrotter Jacob tucker; MLB pitcher Johnny Hellweg; and former St. Louis Blues right wing Cam Janssen.

The All-Stars took the court against the MBU Spartan men’s and women’s basketball players. Local Emmy Award winner Charles Glenn kicked-off the game by singing The National Anthem, with a half-time performance by the Pujols Foundations’ TAGG (Totally Awesome Girl’s Group) pom squad.

Families that support the foundation as well as others from the community were in attendance as well as MBU students, faculty and staff.
