MBU Married Couples
December 12, 2007
By Laura Hildebrand
There is an overwhelming trend on MBU’s campus. Several men and women that work on campus are married and thus spend more time together than the average married couple.
Whether it’s the Laceys, the Chrisopes, the Hessels, the Cornwells, the Dyes or the Hillhouses, the husbands and wives of MBU seem to be everywhere you turn.
Krista Huse works in the Student Development Office and has been married to Paul Huse for 13 years. Paul and Krista have worked together all 13 years they’ve been married—up until this year. Paul accepted a job elsewhere, and although it was a major adjustment at first, Krista enjoys working in her office and having lunch with her friends.
“We were able to eat lunch together often and it was nice to be able to eat with him,” Krista said.
As opposed to married couples that do not work together and do not see each other between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., the couples here at MBU have more opportunities to see their significant other and possibly even share the commute to work every day.
Although being married to a fellow MBU employee is not a prerequisite for getting a job here, it is definitely widely accepted and a popular trend.
Anthony Columbatto, a senior at MBU, is in awe of all the MBU married couples. “It’s nice to see the couples can work together, live together and not kill each other…there’s hope for us all.”
