On Your Mark, Get Set, Grab Those Parking Tags!

At 8 a.m. on Monday, the floors of the financial aid office will fling open and MBU students will stampede to the desk to purchase a spot in the main parking lot—Lot B.
Hopeful students should be forewarned however that the coveted Lot B tags are few, and they are hard to come by. Also, students will have to get there early if they hope to buy a ticket. “There will be a line,” said Tammy Flood, financial services secretary.
Students have plenty of reasons to want these premium spots especially when the weather turns to freezing, and students have to trudge up the hill from Lot C to their classrooms.
Melanie Craig is one such student who is thinking about waking up extra early on Monday morning and braving the line to buy a tag. “I don’t mind walking from parking Lot C when it is warm, but when it’s cold, forget it,” said Craig.
“I only have 25 spots,” said Flood. Not only do the first 25 students need to have $20 cash, check or credit, but they must make sure they do not have any restrictions or holds on their account. Accordingly, they must have a zero balance.
Once all the tags are purchased, students can be put on a waiting list. However, not many people who have the spots already want to give their space up, said Flood.
