Bragging Rights for the Blue

October 25, 2007

By Beth Kinsey

Nearly 50 friends and family members of MBU’s men’s baseball team gathered to cheer on their players in the final game of the annual Missouri Baptist Blue and White Series on Saturday, Oct. 13.

During the three hour game, the team, which had been divided evenly against one another into the Blue and White teams earlier in the fall, battled to win the series that up until that point had been tied 2-2. The game ended with the Blue team, coached by student-assistant and former player Angel Samuel, winning the series.

“Putting on the jerseys we’ll be putting on in the spring gets everyone pumped up,” MBU catcher Jared Carlson said. “Even though these games don’t mean anything, the fall still has meaning in it because it gives one side of the team bragging rights throughout the winter.”

After the game, there was an introduction of all the players for the upcoming season, as well as a recognition of awards received last season by Nathan Sisneros, Angel Samuel, Matt Murray and Brandon Patek. The event ended with a barbeque for the players and their families.
