A Busy Year for MBU’s Tennis Teams
September 27, 2007
By Christa Graham
This year the men’s and women’s tennis teams are planning to take their game to the next level. Lloyd Brown and Larry Miller, coaches of the tennis teams, have planned a busy schedule for the players this season. The purpose of this is to give the tennis players training and experience, said Brown.
The games have already begun for the tennis players. This past weekend, the teams competed in an ITA tournament in Springfield, Ill. Other colleges and universities such as Olivette and Lindenwood attended this tournament. For MBU’s men’s team, Chris Cozad won in the Constellation game. For MBU’s women’s team, Meghan McCreary won one round in the semifinals before losing in a close match.
At this tournament each player was able to play at least one match. “It was a good experience, and now the players know how hard they need to work,” said Brown. October sixth marks another big event for the tennis teams. Starting at 10 a.m., MBU teams are competing in a tri-match along with RendLake and Evangel.
This is just the beginning for the tennis team. Brown has already planned the schedule for the spring 2008 semester, with quite a few events scheduled in February, March and April.
