Exciting TV Shows Premiering This Week

For many students, the day-to-day life of class, work, homework, sports practices, and club meetings is just too much to handle. The monotony of a school-year routine can exhaust even the best students at times. However, many MBU students find relief from the real world drudgery by living through the lives of characters from their favorite TV dramas, many of which premier September 23rd through 29th.
This week is jam-packed with season premiers. There are many returning series that students are already attached to like “The Simpsons,” which is beginning its 19th season on the FOX network. FOX is also home to the cartoon favorite “Family Guy.” Other returning favorites include NBC’s “Heroes,” and the CW’s “Smallville.”
However, the returning show that MBU students seem to be the most excited about watching this week is “The Office,” NBC’s Emmy Award-winning show based on the BBC comedy. Kicking off its fourth season with an hour-long premier on Sept. 27, “The Office” has students of all walks of life excited to see what the season holds for two of the show’s main characters. “I can’t wait to see what happens between Jim and Pam,” explains junior Rachel Todd.
The show also keeps viewers coming back because of its originality and creativity. “It is by far the most creative show on television right now. It features a great cast, a well-written script, and unbelievable, boundary-breaking concepts,” said MBU student Anthony Columbatto.
While some prefer the scripted programs, many students occupy themselves with reality hits, such as the CW’s “America’s Next Top Model,” and CBS’s “Survivor.” “Sadly, I’m also looking forward to ‘Beauty and the Geek,’” said Todd.
No matter how busy the schedule, technology has made keeping track of the latest drama a simple task. Today, devices like TiVo make recording episodes of popular shows stress-free. Many networks are also making this job easier. The CW, NBC, and ABC networks, as well as other popular networks, post the latest episodes of their popular shows so that fans will not get behind. “I like it because on the off-chance I happen to miss an episode, I can always find it on the internet,” said Columbatto.
As the school-year routine begins to weigh down on many MBU students, these premiering shows will provide something for students to look forward to on a weekly basis.
