MBU Track and Field Compete in National Championships
The MBU men's 4 X 100m relay team of Tim Glockner, Ivan Milicevic, DeWight Meeks, and DeWain Meeks had a faulty exchange in the preliminaries and were disqualified. DeWain Meeks later made it to the semifinals in the 200m with a 21.18 (.04 sec. off the school record), but failed to make it to finals. Saturday's heat took its toll, and he cramped in the final 60m of the race. His 47.64 anchor leg in the 4 X 400m relay took the team to a season best 3:16.80. Junior Hines was able to improve through the qualifying rounds of the 400m hurdles and earned 4th place in the finals, earning All-American honors for the second straight year.
The men's athletes who competed at Nationals are all sophomores, their composite GPA is 3.0+, and they are all looking forward to the next two years and return trips to the National Championships.
For the MBU women's team, junior Tiffany Jackson was the lone competitor. She earned two All-American titles in the 100m hurdles and the 100m dash. Jackson finished second in the 100m hurdles in a time of 14.20. In the semifinal heat, she ran a personal best time of 13.95. She finished sixth in the 100m dash in a time of 11.96. She also ran a personal best time of 11.91 in the 100m dash semi-final. She advanced to the 200m semifinals, but failed to make it to finals.
