MBU employees feel more appreciated than any other organization surveyed

For the second time in as many years, Missouri Baptist University has been named as a Top Workplace in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

MBU ranked fourth among all large organizations. The University was the highest-ranking higher education organization, and one of only two on the list.

“The daily contributions of our employees are a large reason why MBU has prospered,” said Dr. R. Alton Lacey. “To receive this honor two years in
a row further illustrates that MBU’s entrepreneurial culture of empowering employees to fully utilize their talents and passions provides a satisfying
and rewarding work environment.”

This year, MBU was one of only 90 organizations selected for the Top Workplaces award out of the 1,500 organizations that were nominated for the honor in the St. Louis region.

The Post-Dispatch gave MBU the “Appreciation Award,” for the high number of MBU employees who indicated they feel appreciated by their workplace. In fact, MBU rated the highest out of all organizations when those surveyed were asked to rate the statement “I feel genuinely appreciated at this company.”

MBU provides full-time employees comprehensive medical and dental plans which cover the individual’s premiums at 100 percent, and a voluntary vision plan is available. Life insurance, long-term disability, and long-term care are also provided. MBU participates in a notable retirement program. If eligible employees contribute a minimum of 5 percent of their salary, MBU will make a matching contribution of 10 percent. Employees who have worked full time for one year and their dependents may enroll in undergraduate courses for free, and employees are eligible for 50 percent tuition concession for graduate courses. Employees have substantial time off with vacation, sick days, and nine paid holidays (in addition to spring break and Christmas break per department requirements). Employees receive free membership to MBU’s new Sports and Recreation Complex, offering access to an indoor track, a state-of the-art training and fitness center and fitness classes that are free or heavily discounted.
