MBU grads get jobs: Final Backpack to Briefcase to focus on interview techniques
The final Backpack to Briefcase event of the year is set to provide MBU students with professional interviewing techniques from a range of successful leaders in the St. Louis workforce.
This event is free for MBU students and will be held on Wednesday, April 3 from 12-1 p.m. in the Pillsbury Chapel and Dale Williams Fine Art Center’s Recital Hall and Great Hall.
The Interview Workshop will begin with a seminar about best practices by MBU alumna Lauren Sanders, who is a supervisor in Talent Development for business advisory firm Brown Smith Wallace. She completed her B.S. in Business Administration in 2006 and her MBA in 2008 both from Missouri Baptist University.
Sanders’ presentation will be followed by individual mock interviews by employers in the St. Louis area.
The Backpack to Briefcase series, which is sponsored by the MBU Alumni Association and Career Services, provides students the opportunity to receive insight from alumni about how to become successful professionally.
There will be a light reception in the gallery between the seminar and interviews. At this time participants will be able to ask in depth questions and network with Lauren. To take part of the mock interviews students should email Sarah Long, career services program support assistant, a week in advance for a time slot.
Those conducting the interviews include:
Holly Pyatt , Corporate Manager of Organizational Effectiveness for SSM Health Care (2005 MBU Graduate, B.S. Business Adm.)
Dr. Stacy Ray , 6th Grade Principal at Hazelwood West Middle School (2011 MBU Graduate, Doctor of Education)
Local Employers include
Mike Wise, Strategic Sourcing Analyst at Ameren.
Josh Lang, Strategic Account Executive at Equifax.
Justin Campbell, St. Louis Area Director of Young Life.
