MBU president to serve on hospital’s Community Advisory Board

With the goal of increasing healthy living in the St. Louis region, Dr. R. Alton Lacey, Missouri Baptist University president, has been selected to the Community Advisory Board of the Missouri Baptist Medical Center.

Dr. Alton Lacey
Lacey is one of 17 civic leaders in the bi-state who serves on the Community Advisory Board. He has been appointed to a three-year term.
Members of the Community Advisory Board serve in various capacities in an effort to optimize MBCD’s effectiveness in community outreach activities. Specifically, the Community Advisory Board provides, among other duties, advice and counsel on issues of public policy, researches areas of the community that may be under served and assists the Missouri Baptist Healthcare Foundation in various fund-raising activities.
About MBMC: Missouri Baptist Medical Center is a 489-bed, acute-care hospital in West St. Louis County, offering a full continuum of medical and surgical services as well as adult and pediatric 24-hour emergency services. MBCH is a leader in open-heart surgery, operates a nationally recognized cancer care program and offers comprehensive orthopedic, gastrointestinal and women’s health services.
About Dr. Lacey: Dr. Alton Lacey has been President of Missouri Baptist University since 1995. He has earned degrees in chemical engineering (B.S.-Louisiana Tech University), religious education (M.A.-Southwestern Seminary) and psychology (Ph.D. - SWBTS) and has done postgraduate work at the Harvard Institute for Educational Management.
Lacey is past President of Independent Colleges and Universities of Missouri, (ICUM) and current member and past Chair of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Baptist Colleges and Universities. He is a member of the Committee on Transfer and Articulation for the Coordinating Board of Higher Education in Missouri and also serves on the Boards of the Rossman School and the United Way of Greater St. Louis. In addition, Lacey serves on the board of directors for the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.
