St. Louis jazz great Jeanne Trevor to perform at MBU

January 14, 2008

St. Louis jazz legend Jeanne Trevor is coming to Missouri Baptist University Feb. 23 for a free concert.

The evening is a part of a yearlong jazz series sponsored by MBU’s Fine Arts division.

About Jeanne Trevor:
The St. Louis native’s vocals and delivery—described as a combination of the sounds of Billy Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald—have for decades graced venues worldwide. The Grammy-award-winning musician, who was born and raised in Harlem New York City, has acted in the Black Repertory Theater and has sung at Powell Symphony Hall and the Fox Theater. Trevor has lived in St. Louis for more than 40 years, performing at venues throughout the bi-state and earning a reputation as St. Louis’ queen of jazz. In fact, St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay has declared March 18 Jeanne Trevor Day in St. Louis because of her valuable contribution to the St. Louis jazz scene.

When: Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m.

Where: The Perk, MBU’s new full-service coffeehouse. The Perk sits on the southern edge of MBU’s West Saint Louis County campus—located a quarter mile west of the intersection of highways 270 and 40.
