MBU president elected to IABCU board

Dr. R. Alton Lacey, MBU president, has been elected as a board member for the International Association of Baptist Colleges and Universities.

As a member of the IABCU board, Lacey joins administrators of 15 other Baptist colleges who serve staggered four-year terms. Presidents and chief academic officers elect four new members each year. Dr. Lacey’s term expires in June of 2011.
Along with other board members, Dr. Lacey will manage the business affairs of the corporation and attend two regular board meetings in June and December each year. Specifically, board members review and approve budget, goals, mission statements, policies and programs and oversee the staff of the association. Board members may also be called on to serve on special committees of the board and vote on issues via mail or e-mail throughout the year.
Dr. Lacey is a former board member of the association and served as chair of the board of director’s from June of 2001 to June of 2002.
IABCU member schools include 48 colleges and universities, two Bible schools, one theological seminary and one academy. The purpose of the Association is to serve and promote its member schools through such avenues as the Web site, printed materials and ongoing programs and services.
