MBU announces overhaul for Jung-Kellogg Library
April 2, 2007
Missouri Baptist University’s Jung-Kellogg Library has been slated for a dramatic overhaul this summer.
The $785,000 transformation project is aimed at creating a more inviting, functional and modern place of study for MBU students for years to come. The project will begin May 1 and is scheduled to be completed by the Fall 2007 semester.
“The library renovation will provide our students with an environment that truly empowers interactive learning and research,” said Dr. Arlen Dykstra, MBU provost and vice president for academic affairs. “In addition to aesthetic improvements we are emphasizing our significant investment in online academic resources."
Project improvements include the addition of a mezzanine; complete replacement of furnishing, flooring and lighting; online hubs at every study table; renovated and expanded service facilities; a centrally-located reference kiosk and better organized layout.
The 5,200-sq.-foot Jung-Kellogg Library is available to all MBU students, alumni, clergy and faculty and staff. Jung-Kellogg is a member of the MOBIUS Consortium—the Bibliographic User System, which is a group of academic libraries of over fifty Missouri colleges and universities. During the construction phase of the project, limited library services will operate from the Field Academic Hall.
