Founder of World Wide Technology speaks at MBU Chapel
March 1, 2007
The founder of the top grossing African-American owned business in America spoke at MBU’s weekly convocation March 1.

Mr. David Steward
David Steward, who launched World Wide Technology in 1990 with four people and 4,000 sq.-feet, urged hundreds of MBU students in attendance to take risks in life in an effort to further glorify Christ’s life through their own.
“We’re looking forward. We’re willing to take the risks,” said Steward, who is currently chairman of WWT’s board. “We’re going to be courageous enough to look forward to what God has in store for us, to look forward to how we can glorify God in all that we do.”
Today, WWT is an innovative value-added reseller with headquarters in St. Louis, with over 1,000 employees, along with more than 1.5 million-plus sq. ft. of facilities, and two billion in sales. WWT, which was named Black Enterprise Magazine’s top-grossing black-owned business this past May for the third consecutive year, is readily recognized as a leading systems integrator and supply chain services company.
Steward recently completed a book, along with Robert L. Shook, titled DOING BUSINESS BY THE GOOD BOOK, Fifty-two Lessons on Success, Straight from the Bible. It was released by Hyperion, a division of Disney, on January 2, 2004 and includes a forward written by former President George H. Bush.
From chairman of the Board of Directors for United Way of Greater St. Louis to work with The Greater St. Louis Area Council of Boy Scouts of America, Steward is involved with numerous philanthropic organizations. Recently, Steward was named the St. Louis Variety’s 2006 “Man of the Year.”
“Even today, I walk by faith not by sight,” Steward said. “I think faith is essential to moving forward with our work.”
