MBU professor leads international Christian counseling conference
January 29, 2007
Dr. Mary Ann Conaway, professor of counseling education and director of MBU’s graduate counseling program, led an international Christian counseling conference Jan. 20 for Korean pastors and staff members.

The primary purpose of the six-hour conference was to assist pastors and church staff members of traditional Korean culture in understanding how psychological theory-based Christian counseling can aid traditional Korean families as they acclimate to Western culture.
“The life of Jesus gives us the perfect counseling model—the way he worked, the way he talked,” said Conaway, who also owns a private counseling practice. “No psychological theory alone has the aptitude to answer these questions. However, looking at these psychological theories through the life of Jesus can give us new insight.”
Those in attendance reside in South Korea, New York, Iowa, Nebraska, California and the St. Louis area.
