RE: MBU announces Arnold expansion
MBU announces Arnold expansion
January 24, 2007
Come August, Missouri Baptist University will begin offering a host of academic programs in Arnold, making it the only university to offer multiple undergraduate and graduate programs in northern Jefferson County.
“For the first time, this really opens the door for residents living in Arnold and surrounding communities to pursue a college degree close to home and in a convenient and affordable manner,” said Amber Henry, dean of the Jefferson College Extension. “This agreement will increase the level of opportunity for northern Jefferson County residents to receive a college education for years to come.”
MBU courses will be offered at sites throughout northern Jefferson County. Administrative offices will be held at Jefferson College’s new Arnold location, which is set to open in the fall of 2007. The new 40,000 sq.-foot building, which will feature a host of smart classrooms, science classrooms and labs, is located near the intersection of Missouri State Road and Astra Way.
MBU’s Arnold Extension will offer undergraduate degree programs in Administration of Justice, Business, and Education. In addition, the University will offer graduate courses for the Master of Science in Education, the Master of Business Administration, and the Educational Specialist Degree.
MBU began offering courses at the Hillsboro location of Jefferson College in 1994. This collobaration has provided students the opportunity to complete a four year degree through a 2+2 articulation.
The expansion of MBU’s academic programs into northern Jefferson County comes while the region is experiencing unprecedented growth. Since 2000, Jefferson County’s population has increased by 7.5 percent, ranking it third out of 115 counties in terms of population growth in Missouri.
