RE: Homecoming 2006: Spirits Energized
Homecoming 2006: Spirits Energized
November 14, 2006
A relentless sea of Spartans crowded into the Muncy Gymnasium last Saturday night to cheer the MBU Men’s Basketball Team to victory on the last night of Homecoming 2006.
It worked. The Spartans beat rival College of the Ozarks 91-78.
By all accounts, the commanding win was indicative of the overall success of Homecoming 2006. From the beginning, the weeklong event brought a record number of MBU constituents together for what was the busiest and most well attended homecoming in the University’s 42-year-old existence.
Following are a few highlights of Homecoming 2006:
• More than 1,700 people attended four shows of MBU’s Fall Musical, Fiddler on the Roof, making it by far the largest attended MBU theatre program ever.
• Joe Wasser, the first MBU volleyball coach, was inducted into the MBU Athletic Hall of Fame at a sold-out Hall of Fame Banquet. In addition, dozens of MBU scholar athletes were acknowledged for their successes during the 2005-2006 athletic season.
• Marking a decade of caffeinated, coffeehouse entertainment, dozens of musicians took center stage at The Perk. More than 400 constituents attended the MBU tradition.
• MBU junior Clayton McKibbin and senior Kinsey Kell were named MBU Homecoming King and Queen.
• Freshman Chelsea Ward and MBU Communications Professor Jo Ann Thomas both won a pair of cruise tickets in conjunction with the first-ever MBU Cruise Giveaway. Throughout the week, MBU constituents were eligible to enter their names in the Cruise Giveaway drawing at various homecoming events for a chance to win.
