Missouri Baptist University’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved several new faculty and trustee appointments, and received both optimistic financial and enrollment news at their regularly scheduled meeting, Aug. 24.
The following faculty appointments were approved: Mrs. Paula Bennett, assistant professor of communication, effective Jan., 2007; Dr. Ron Brandley, assistant professor of education; Mark Kimzey, instructor of sports medicine; and Marsha Tierney, assistant professor of education.
The Nominating Committee recommended the election of two new trustees. Dan West, president of West Trade International, and Steven Phillips, pastor of Winstanley Baptist Church in Fairview, Ill., were unanimously approved to serve three-year terms.

It was reported that estimated enrollment figures for the fall 2006 semester, which began Aug. 21, indicate another record-breaking year. Furthermore, this year’s freshman class is academically the strongest in recent years. Collectively, entering students scored more than a point higher on the ACT—higher than the national average—than last year, reported Terry Dale Cruse, director of admissions at MBU.
The Board’s Business and Audit Committee offered an extremely strong financial report concluding the 2005/2006 academic year. In addition, the last year has brought significant increases in giving trends of both internal and external constituents, committee members said.
