RE: Chambers attends Baptist Academy Seminar in Oxford
Chambers attends Baptist Academy Seminar in Oxford
July 31, 2006
Dr. Andy Chambers, MBU vice president for student development, was one of a select group of academic scholars who attended the Young Scholars in the Baptist Academy Seminar at Regent's Park College in Oxford, England, July 24-28.
“This was an incredible opportunity to discuss how higher education can act as an effective venue for Baptist tradition,” said Chambers, who serves as a member of the program's steering committee. “Determining how we as Baptist academics can understand the heritage of our denomination and how it relates to our Christian faith is an important topic in the arena of faith and learning.”
The four-day seminar specifically focused on the recovery of Christian tradition within Baptist life, with special attention given to the ways in which Baptist higher education should critically and constructively engage such developments.
Chambers, who is also an associate professor of Bible, has served at MBU for nine years and holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri – Rolla, and a Ph.D. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
