Dr. John Han, professor of English and chair of the Humanities Division at MBU, recently delivered two scholarly papers in East Asia.

John Han, MBU instructor of English and chairperson of Humanities
Han, a native of South Korea, was one of four academic scholars who spoke June 14 at “Quest and Encounter: The Asian Humanities in a Global Context,” an international conference on Asian humanities at Chungbuk National University in South Korea. There, Han presented a paper titled: “Promoting Korean Literature in the United States: The Accomplishments, Myths, and Challenges.”
Also at the conference, Han and leaders of CBNU announced a plan for MBU’s Humanities Division and Institute of Humanities at CBNU to begin cooperating in the areas of teaching and research.
Specifically, both institutions agreed to the following forms of cooperation:
• Joint research activities and publications
• Exchange of invitation to scholars for lectures and talks
• Exchange of invitations to scholars participating in conferences and symposiums
The other paper Han presented, “The Analects and the Tao Te Ching as Tools for Understanding the Chinese Mind,” was delivered at the Consortium for Global Education conference June 21-23 on the internationalization of higher education at Qingdao University, located on the eastern coastline of China.
Han has authored a number of writings, and his work has been published in numerous publications. He received his Ph.D. in English at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He received his M.A. in English from Kansas State University and M.Ed. in English Education from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea.
