RE: Katrina Emergency Enrollment Plan

Katrina Emergency Enrollment Plan

August 31, 2005

With thousands displaced by one of the worst hurricanes ever to hit the United States, Missouri Baptist University is aiding college students affected by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

From Tulane University in New Orleans to the University of Mobile in Mobile Ala., a myriad of universities and colleges dotting the gulf coast have been forced to close after Katrina made landfall last Monday.

While classes have already commenced, MBU is offering students whose schools have been indefinitely closed due to Katrina the opportunity to enroll and live at the University for the fall 2005 semester.

“Missouri Baptist University will do what we can,” said Dr. Alton Lacey, president, a native Louisianan who spent twenty years at Louisiana College before moving to MBU. “We’re offering to help the students find a place where they can continue their studies until their home school can start classes again.”

In an effort to help offset tuition-related costs, MBU will match institutional aid up to 45 percent and waive late enrollment fees.

For more information about MBU’s Katrina Emergency Enrollment Plan, parents and students should contact Terry Dale Cruse, director of admissions, at (314) 392-2291.
