Tom Smith Receives Region V Athletic Director of the Year Honor

Missouri Baptist University Athletic Director Tom Smith receives the 2004-05 Region V Athletic Director of the Year by the American Midwest Conference (AMC).
Smith has led the MBU athletic program since 2003. In his time as director, the MBU athletic program has recognized forty NAIA All Americans, fifteen NAIA Scholar-Athletes, eight conference coaches of the year, and four regional coaches of the year.
The MBU athletic program has twenty-four varsity and junior varsity teams, six of which were added in the last two years. The 2005-06 season will debut women’s lacrosse, women’s golf, and men’s tennis teams. Fourteen varsity teams have qualified for NAIA National births or NAIA Region births. The MBU athletic teams compete in Region V NAIA athletics and subscribe to the five NAIA character initiatives of respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership, and sportsmanship.
Smith has been employed by MBU since 1996 and has served as Director of Alumni Relations and Director of Admissions. Smith resides in Manchester, Missouri with his wife, Merry and has four children: Anna, Jon, Elizabeth, and Grace.
