RE: May Board of Trustee Meeting

May Board of Trustee Meeting

May 26, 2005

In a regularly scheduled quarterly meeting, the Missouri Baptist University Board of Trustees entertained committee reports, approved new faculty members and the development of a new academic program.

The Board approved the development of an educational specialist degree. This thirty-hour advanced certification program qualifies an individual for the superintendency in public schools, fulfilling a degree program need between Master's and doctoral programs.

Faculty appointments were approved for Ms. Pamela Goode, Instructor of Health and Sport Sciences; Mr. Greg Farris, Assistant Professor of Health and Sport Sciences; Mrs. Angela Robins, Instructor of Education; and Mrs. Kristie Kimzey, Instructor of English. In a related action the board also approved several faculty reappointments.

The committee on athletics reported a record number of teams participated in their respective NAIA national competitions. In particular, both of the first-year programs in men's and women's bowling were named in the national rankings -- a first in the history of the NAIA.

Humes and Barrington were appointed for the 2004-2005 fiscal and financial aid audit. The firm has served as the University's auditors for the past nineteen consecutive years.

The Board also passed a resolution of appreciation to forty philanthropic friends of the University that were adopted into the President's Club this past quarter.

In closing the Trustees recognized Dr. Thomas S. Field's ninetieth birthday this June. Dr. Field served nearly four years as interim president in the early 1990s and currently serves as a member of the Board.
