MBU to Host Academic Conference on Christianity and Contemporary Culture

In conjunction with Michigan State University's Institute for the Study of Christianity and Culture, Missouri Baptist University will host an academic conference on Christianity and contemporary culture on Friday, June 17 (session from 7:30-9 PM) and Saturday, June 18, 2005 (sessions from 9:30 AM-12 Noon and 2-3:30 PM).
The conference will feature Philip Jenkins, distinguished Professor of History and Religious Studies at Pennsylvania State University. Professor Jenkins will offer a response to the issues raised in the best selling novel by Dan Brown, The DaVinci Code. The conference is co-sponsored by the Institute for the Study of Christianity and culture.
Saturday morning will consist of a panel and response session with Professor Jenkins entitled, "Global Christianity and the Future of Liberal Arts Education." Panel respondents will include Professor William Shea from Holy Cross, Dr. Keith Beutler of MBU. That afternoon, Professor Harold K. Bush, of St. Louis University, will host a panel about Christianity and contemporary culture.
The lecture on Friday evening is free to the public. The registration fee will include a Friday evening reception, two panels on Saturday, and lunch.
