MBU Spring Campus Visit Day Hosts Over 200 Prospective Students and Parents

January 20, 2005

Even with the abundance of college material being sent by mail, it's not surprising that the campus visit is still of highest importance to prospective college students, according to a recent survey among high school juniors and seniors. There's simply no substitute for setting foot on campus and experiencing college life and atmosphere first-hand.

For Lindbergh High School junior Paul Bick, attending a Campus Visit Day was the perfect opportunity to begin his college search. “Even though I have a while before I make my final choice,” said Bick, “I want to start early so I can be prepared.” Paul attended the Missouri Baptist University Spring Campus Visit Day, held on January 17, 2005, which hosted over two hundred prospective students and parents for an informative collegiate preview.

Throughout the day, prospective students and their families enjoyed performances by MBU ministry and music groups, campus tours, and an opportunity to converse with current MBU students. After a greeting from President R. Alton Lacey, students attended a variety of breakout sessions on topics ranging from fine arts and athletics to student ministry opportunities.

A question and answer session on Financial Aid provided an opportunity to learn about the many types of financial assistance available. With the variety of financial options, students - and their parents - found they could significantly lower the cost of college attendance. In addition to a number of MBU institutional awards, members of a Southern Baptist church are also eligible for the denominational grant and church matching scholarship. For students like Paul, this session provided useful information on MBU scholarships as well as helpful tips for preparing financially for college.

An information fair allowed visitors to explore the University's various academic and extracurricular possibilities. Seasoned faculty members from each academic department were available throughout the entirety of the event to answer questions and give students an informed perspective on collegiate academics.

MBU undergraduate enrollment has increased a record 14 percent each of the past two years and indications are strong that the fall 2005 year will reflect a continued interest in the University.

The next campus visit day will be held October 9, 2005. For more information or to schedule a visit, please contact the Office of Admissions at 1-877-434-1115 or visit us online at www.mobap.edu.
