RE: MBU Receives Handcrafted Gift
MBU Receives Handcrafted Gift
September 24, 2004
Don Krueger of West County Community Church delivered a solid oak podium just in time for its first use at the University’s Presidential chapel service, Thursday, September 16, 2004.
Two years after the grand opening of the Pillsbury Chapel and Dale Williams Fine Arts Center, a proper podium was found.
“As we began our search for a podium that represented the quality of our new Fine Arts Center, we struggled to find one that would serve as an appropriate centerpiece of our chapel,” said President Lacey during Thursday’s chapel.
Based on his reputation of quality podium craftsmanship, Don Krueger was contracted for the task. Krueger offered his work as a gift to the University. Krueger’s wife, daughter, son, and daughter-in-law had graduated from the University.
On behalf of the University, President Lacey graciously accepted the gift. “It is our pledge,” he stated, “to dedicate this podium to the glory of God.” Krueger and his wife were present for the dedication and were greeted by the applause of an appreciative student body.
