Missouri Baptist University Hosts Fall Student Renewal
September 20, 2004
Missouri Baptist University students and faculty gathered together September 7-9 for a Fall Student Renewal Chapel Series, an event begun this year by Campus Pastor Fred Hampton.
Each year, MBU students have the opportunity for spiritual focus during the annual Fall Lecture series, which usually takes place mid-semester. In 2004, however, Hampton saw the need for an intentionally earlier chapel series. "We wanted to start the semester with direction on the right path," Hampton said. "The Fall Student Renewal provides such spiritual refreshment.”
New and returning students alike were privileged to sit under the preaching of Pastor James Goforth, Jr. during the renewal. Goforth is pastor of New Life Baptist Church in Florissant, Missouri..
Pastor Goforth encouraged students with his message series entitled “Be Set Free.” Whether through student testimonies, music, or preaching of the Word, each student and faculty member present had the opportunity to worship. Hampton received positive responses from students and faculty, proving the series was a great success.
The annual Fall Lecture Series, which will take place October 5-7, will feature Dr. Perry Sanders, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Lafeyette, Louisiana.
