Among the group were Mr. Keith Buetler, Professor of History; Mr. Joshua Buffington, Instructor of Health and Sport Sciences; Ms. Iris Dixon, Instructor of Health and Sport Sciences; Mr. John Marion, Professor of English; Dr. Wayne Mosher, Professor of Education; Mr. Larry Richardson, Instructor of Human Services and Counseling; Dr. C. MBU faculty stood before peers and students and pledged to uphold the University’s mission in conjunction with the integration of faith and learning. On behalf of the entire faculty, Provost Arlen Dykstra declared, “We recognize that as Christians we have perhaps a greater responsibility than our secular counterparts. We wish to know the counsel of God and intend to guide those students entrusted to us in the pursuit of such knowledge. To this end, we dedicate ourselves.”
President Lacey presented an address to the student body entitled “The Best is Yet to Be,” focusing on Jesus’ first miracle. After a lighthearted description of his own wedding, President Lacey vividly described what the wedding in Canaan must have been like Paralleling the evolution of Jesus’ miracles and the greater plan that lay ahead, Lacey challenged faculty and students alike to look to the future in anticipation because, as believers, the very best is truly yet to be.
