Missouri Baptist University recognizes and honors individuals at President’s Party

August 30, 2004

President and Mrs. R. Alton Lacey hosted the annual President’s Party on August 27, 2004.

New faculty and staff members were introduced at Friday’s event. Dr. Charles “Scully” Stikes joins the MBU faculty as Professor of Counseling and Sociology. Not only does Stikes serve as pastor of an inner-city Methodist church, but he is a published writer on topics ranging from African American culture to leadership strategies. Also new to MBU is Mr. Larry Richardson, Instructor of Human Services/Counseling and Graduate Advisor. Richardson’s twenty-one years of work in school counseling provides a strong basis for his continued work in the Graduate Counseling program. Dr. John Marino joins the MBU faculty as Assistant Professor of English. In addition to many of his professional works, his dissertation, The Grail Legend in Modern Literature, will be published this October. Twenty-five full-time individuals join MBU this year.

Several faculty and staff members were honored for their years of service at this year’s event. Ms. Kathleen Wendt was recognized for her 25 years of service as Director of Teacher Education Certification Advising. Honored for 20 years service was Dr. Mary Sue Thompson, Dean of the Troy/Wentzville campus and professor of business and accounting. Dr. Terry Chrisope, professor of history and Bible, Ms. Nitsa Hindeleh, Director of Library Services and instructor in library science, and Ms. Elaine Trost, cataloging librarian were also honored for fifteen years of service. Five individuals were honored for ten years of service and nine were honored for five years of service.

Trustee and pastor of South County Baptist Church, John Hessel represented the Board by presenting a resolution of appreciation to President R. Alton Lacey in recognition of his ten years of dedicated service to the students, faculty, staff and alumni of the university.

“Dr. Lacey has established a vision for the University,” Hessel stated, “synergizing strategic planning, institutional development and the Lord’s calling upon this institution.”
