RE: August Board of Trustees Meeting
August Board of Trustees Meeting
August 27, 2004
University Trustees convened today to appoint new faculty, elect trustees and accept reports on the institution’s record growth and development.
In the regularly scheduled meeting, the Board announced a fourth consecutive year of record enrollment, citing 988 full-time undergraduate students at the main campus, up 9% from last year’s enrollment at this same time. Total headcount enrollment is projected to reach well over a record 3700.
In an early report to the Board, Dr. Lacey recapped some highlights of his ten years as president, emphasizing the institution’s pursuit of excellence, the integration of faith and learning and the commitment to culture focused on customer service. President Lacey also noted the fortieth anniversary of MBU and reflected on the mission and core values that the University represents.
The Board appointed Wei-Cheun Lie Tai, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, and voted on the twelve trustee positions ending this term.
The following eleven trustees were recommended by the Nominating Committee and unanimously approved for re-election for another three year term to expire in 2007: Mr. Travis Brown, Rev. Gerald Collier, Dr. Tom Field, Dr. Randy Fullerton, Rev. John Hessel, Mr. Bill Houk, Mrs. Tillie Mayse, Dr. Ken Parker, Rev. Ed Plants, Mr. Gerald Rogers, and Dr. Owen Taylor.
Mrs. Mary Pillsbury-Wainwright was elected to a new term of service to commence in November and also expiring 2007. Mary previously served from 1994-2003.
Dr. Lacey recognized trustee Mr. Paul Shawan as completing his eleventh year on the Board and having served the longest period of time as allowed by the University’s charter.
In other action, the University formally recognized quarterly benefactors in the President’s Club and approved sampling and survey projects for future capitol developments.
