Board Appoints New Faculty, Offers Resolutions
May 27, 2004
Missouri Baptist University’s Board of Trustees today appointed eight new faculty members for the 2004-2005 academic year and heard reports of strong growth and development in all areas of the University.
In the regularly scheduled meeting, the Board appointed: Dr. Mary Vedamuthu, Asst. Professor of Chemistry; Mr. Brian Jackson, Instructor of Business Administration; Mr. Josh Buffington, Instructor of Health and Sport Sciences; Ms. Iris Dixon, Instructor of Health and Sport Sciences; Mr. Larry Richardson, Instructor of Human Services and Counseling; Dr. Wayne Mosher Assistant Professor of Education; Dr. John Marino, Assistant Professor of English; and Mr. Keith Beutler, Assistant Professor of History.
President Lacey addressed the board and reported a recap on the past academic year citing a 15 per cent increase in the fall enrollment, a high fall-to-spring retention rate of 93 per cent, and a solid financial picture. For the twelfth consecutive year the University will finish in the black and enrollment has continued a record growth trend breaking record FTE numbers over the last seven consecutive years. Lacey also reported the acceptance of two new master’s programs and NASM accreditation of the undergraduate music program.
In other action, the board approved Humes & Barrington for the 2003-2004 Fiscal and Financial Aid Audit and offered two new resolutions. The first resolution is in honor of Jefferson College’s fortieth anniversary and the second was a resolution of appreciation to new 2004 President’s Club donors.
The board also approved an update charter that reflected the formal corporate name change from “Missouri Baptist College” to “Missouri Baptist University.” The Institution has been operating as MBU since the summer of 2002. No other charter changes were made.
